Berlin’s space station at risk…

July 22, 2007

c-base the space station below Berlin is at risk to lose its place. The reason for this are monetary problems.

Berlin’s cultural project c-base under threat of closure – the ‘space station’ in Mitte is about to fall victim to rent development and missing financial support for arts & culture.

For a more detailed description what c-base is watch this youtube movie (mostly in german, but still enjoyable for non german folks)

At the time this blog was written they had 14.450 € from the 30.000 € needed. I have supported them because I think this look like a great facility to let people enjoy their creativity.

If you want to support them too:

But there is hope…. OpenMoko is nearing.. This is what wikipedia.org is saying about OpenMoko:

OpenMoko is a project to create a smartphone platform using free software. It uses the Linux kernel, together with a graphical user environment built using the X.Org Server, GTK+ toolkit and the Matchbox window manager. The OpenEmbedded build framework and ipkg package system are used to create and maintain software packages.[1]

Also there are nice youtube videos about the new OPEN and FREE smartphone… You can tinker with it.. You are not locked in..
